2. MAKE PRAYER AND GOD'S WORD A PRIORITY
Quotes from the book:
Many churches across our country have trivia nights, and they are turning away from Bible Trivia because the people of God no longer know God’s Word. Shouldn’t the people of God be able to play Bible Trivia without feeling dumb? God has called us to heed His Word. He has called us to teach it, memorize it, and obey it. Would you say we are doing a good job of that in the home? Most Christian families do not read the Word or pray together outside of repeating the dinner table prayer night after night.
In the Old Testament the nation would go through the Deuteronomic cycle, as we are, and they would get to the point where they realized their sin. They would realize that they had gotten away from God’s law and that they had allowed things of this world into their lives and homes. They would either repent and turn back to God, or they would continue in their sin and go further into slavery. Do we really want the world to take our Bibles away? Do we really want to have to go into hiding just to have a worship service?
MAKE PRAYER AND GOD’S WORD A PRIORITY
I will make prayer and God’s Word a priority in my life and my family’s life. I will discipline myself to my quiet times, and I will make opportunities where we read and pray together as a couple or family. (Matthew 4:4; Psalm 1:1; 119:11; Deuteronomy 6:4–9; 32:45–47; 1 Thessalonians 5:17; Hebrews 4:12)
